Spring Fling 2025

What a good time this was! Melrose neighbors gathered at the Triangle (BREC Fairfax Park) on April 26th to enjoy music and silly games, eat hot dogs and snow cones, snag some prizes, get free plants, and just enjoy each others' company.

A big thanks to Shawanda and Tyko, who always bring the party vibe, and to Val for providing a wealth of free plants and seeds. Thanks to David P for showing that hot dogs can actually be grilled professionally, and to Heather, Heidi, Amy, Allyson, Rick, Robert, Susie, Joseph and Toni for all the help and support making this event come to life.

Also, a big shout out to Councilman Dunn who joined the festivities(!) and graciously conversed with neighbors and fielded questions. We want to continue building relationships with local leaders - 'cause cooperation is key!

This event was funded in part through a grant by Southern University to the Melrose Place Crime Prevention District - which recognizes that neighbors getting to know neighbors is one of the best ways to deter crime. Finally, unwavering thanks to Melrose residents who support us generously through their talents - especially Vito Cheong and Jenny Fontenot for capturing photos. And last but not least: HW - a party's not a party until you can crank it loud.
